Future Directions:
The KMU College of Nursing comprises the Faculty of Nursing, the Graduate Institute of Nursing, the Graduate Institute of Gender Studies, and the Center for Research on Health Promotion. The College is dedicated to outstanding and innovative teaching, research and services. By providing a comprehensive and integrated education, our goal is to educate our students to be the finest nursing professionals and gender researchers of the future, as people with global views and humanist values. The College's future direction is toward enhancing teaching quality and research capacity by means of interdisciplinary integration and international academic exchange.
Developmental Focal Points:
1. The undergraduate program of the Faculty of Nursing educates professional nurses by fostering critical thinking skills, a spirit of diligence, care for life, respect for human rights, and the ability to adapt to contemporary trends. Our curriculum emphasizes the fusion of humanism and science.
2. The master's program of the Graduate Institute of Nursing cultivates students who will be advanced practice nurses and nursing educators with a global perspective, and capable of developing original research in the field of nursing.
3. The doctoral program of the Graduate Institute of Nursing prepares advanced nursing professional to be leaders skilled in conducting innovative research and in furthering knowledge in the field of nursing. We require students to participate actively in international academic exchange and to be adept at understanding and creating the latest directions in nursing research.
4. The master's program of Graduate Institute of Gender Studies provides an interdisciplinary program that offers students substantial training in six fields as follows: "Science, Medicine and Technology", "Feminist Theories and Practice", "Gender and History", "Work and Family", "Sexuality, Body, and Gender" and "Gender, Class and Ethnicity".
5. The College endeavors to promote international academic exchange and collaboration. The College currently has formal exchange agreements with the following organizations.
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)
University of Virginia (UVA)
University of California at San Francisco(UCSF)
6. The College's Center for Research on Health Promotion provides an integrated facility where multidisciplinary professionals can meet and work. The Center also promotes health initiatives by carrying out evidence-based research. |
